Bio


Bev Sninchak is a Colorado-based professional author, freelance writer, editor, and writing instructor/coach. She has published hundreds of columns, articles, and reviews since she became a full-time freelancer in May 1997. She began writing at age nine and became a published writer before the age of 18.

She has held membership in the National Writers Union, Authors Guild, Romance Writers of America (RWA), Pikes Peak Writers, American Copy Editors Society (ACES), Sisters in Crime (national and Colorado chapter), Society for Editors and Proofreaders (based in the UK), American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), and the Erotica Readers & Writers Association (ERWA).

After graduating in the top 10% of her class from Widefield High School in Security, Colorado, Bev she earned five scholarships to study Mass Communication and Psychology at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. In addition, she majored in Applied Communication and minored in Philosophy at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). Earning a spot on the President’s list for academic excellence, she was also a member of the American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES), and Student Allies for Equality while at UCCS.

An avid student, she continues to further her education in various subjects, including Forensic Science, Social Psychology, and Philosophy through programs sponsored by educational institutions such as Nanyang Technical University (Singapore), Duke University, Indian Business School (India), University of Edinburgh (Scotland), Berklee School of Music, and Wesleyan University, among others.

Bev’s favorite genres are non-fiction, fantasy, paranormal romance, and horror. She is the author of Sun Signs for Writers, Secrets of the Professional Freelancer, Aim To Write: Tips & Tricks for Freeing the Scribe Within, Shadows of the Soul, Nocturnal Musings: Collected Ponderings, Essays, and Stories, Hidden Fire, Mending Fences, Unearthly Seduction, and Nocturnal Musings, Volume 2: Ponderings, Essays, and Meditations. She is also co-author of The Complete Writer: A Guide To Tapping Your Full Potential. Bev also writes under the pen names of Star Ferris and Eve Van Zant. 

Bev lives in the Rocky Mountains with her husband and a passel of animals. A proud word nerd and autodidact, when she’s not writing or reading, Bev collects crow figurines, plays with slinkies, bakes, games, crochets, watches documentaries, curates music playlists, and investigates the paranormal.

Her favorite authors are Stephen King, Christopher Moore, Mary Roach, David Sedaris, Elizabeth Gilbert, Jon Ronson, Anne Rice, Michael Crichton, Haruki Murakami, and Neil Gaiman, among many others.
